Hello Visitor, Is it a good day to spray?
As part of the FAIRWAY research programme SprayDay, a mobile phone app, has been developed to help infrequent professional pesticide users follow best practice. We are offering six webinar sessions in late March 2021 to demonstrate the prototype and seek feedback from farmers and other professionals whose work relates to pesticide use or impact on water quality. The webinars are free, open to anyone who is interested, and will be in English. Webinar dates and times

If, after attending a session, you would like to discuss the app with individuals who would not be comfortable receiving a presentation in English, please contact us and we can discuss possible solutions. We also have an off-line presentation if preferred. About AFBI and SprayDay: The Agri-Food and Bioscience Institute (AFBI) are involved in investigating the different ways in which countries manage and mitigate the risk of agricultural contamination of waterbodies used for drinking water supplies. In Northern Ireland we are particularly interested in the threat posed by grassland herbicides such as MCPA. Under the auspices of FAIRWAY, AFBI has developed SprayDay a mobile phone app that provides farmers using professional herbicide products with guidance on current best practice in all aspects of pesticide use. We are seeking feedback on the current version of SprayDay from farmers and other professionals whose work relates to pesticide use or impact on water quality in order to ensure it meets the needs of the intended users. Please feel free to forward this information to anyone that you think may be interested. We are keen to present this work to as wide a variety of individuals and organisations as possible.
